Longaberger Basket in Newark for Sale for $8.5 Million

Only in Ohio real estate do you find a property that makes you stop and say… wait, is that really a building?

The famous Longaberger Basket Building in Newark, Ohio was recently featured on Zillow Gone Wild — and yes, the seven-story office building designed to look like a giant picnic basket is real. Built in 1997 as the former headquarters of the Longaberger Company, the 180,000-square-foot landmark sits on more than 20 acres and is currently listed for $8.5 million.

While most of us probably aren’t shopping for a basket-shaped building, it’s a fun reminder of one of my favorite things about real estate — every property has a story. Some homes make you instantly fall in love, some require a little imagination, and some simply make you wonder, “Who came up with this idea?”

But whether it’s a giant basket or a traditional Columbus home, the best opportunities often come when buyers look beyond first impressions and see the potential.
